Signs you need a repipe

Eight warnings your plumbing gives first.

Old pipes corrode, weaken and eventually fail. Pressure drops and leaks appear throughout the home. Recognize the symptoms early and you prevent the costly damage.

01

Frequent leaks

Persistent leaks despite repairs signal deteriorating pipes.

02

Discolored water

Rusty water means corrosion, and it affects water quality.

03

Low water pressure

Sudden drops suggest blockages or corrosion inside the line.

04

Visible corrosion

Rust, green stains or pitting on exposed pipe.

05

Strange odors from faucets

Contaminants entering through compromised pipes.

06

Original plumbing in an older home

Older construction often benefits most from repiping.

07

Water stains or mold

Stains on walls and ceilings, or mold growth, can mean hidden leaks.

08

Strange noises

Banging or rattling during use: water hammer or loose pipes.

Materials

PEX vs. copper.

Both are durable, long-term options and we install both. Which suits your home depends on layout, budget and preference.

What a whole-house repipe involves

Six parts of a Houston repipe, in the order they happen.

A repipe replaces the supply lines that carry water to every fixture. Here is what the job actually consists of, so the quote makes sense.

01

Walk-through and quote

We count fixtures, check the attic, slab and access points, and agree the price and schedule upfront.

02

Access points marked

The few places a wall or ceiling must be opened are marked in advance, so nothing is a surprise.

03

New lines run

PEX or copper is routed through the attic and walls, with new shut-off valves at every fixture.

04

Fixtures reconnected

Every sink, shower, toilet, water heater and outdoor faucet is connected to the new system.

05

Pressure test

The whole system is pressure-tested before the water is turned back on.

06

Permit and inspection

Repiping in Houston is permitted work. A licensed plumber pulls the permit and the inspection is part of the job.

Our repiping process

Precise, step by step, then cleaned up.

A repipe is a big job. A precise process is what keeps it predictable and keeps your home liveable while it happens.

Just one leak, not the whole house?

We do that too. Leak patching, relining and single-line replacement are quoted separately from a full repipe.

What affects the cost

Why two Houston repipe quotes can be very different.

There is no flat rate for a repipe. These are the things that move the price, and what we look at before we quote.

Size and fixture count

A two-bath home with a dozen fixtures is a much smaller job than a four-bath, two-story house.

PEX or copper

PEX costs less in material and labor; copper costs more and suits some homes and owners better. The comparison above explains when.

Access

Attic runs are quick. Lines under a slab or behind tiled walls take more care and more time.

Fixtures and valves

New shut-off valves, hose bibs and supply connectors are usually included; we list them on the quote.

Stories and layout

Bathrooms stacked over each other repipe faster than fixtures scattered across a sprawling single story.

Permit and patching

The permit is part of the job. We tell you upfront which openings we patch and which are left ready for your painter.

New pipe is a one-time fix. Patching the same leak is not.

Repipe questions

What homeowners ask before a repipe.

Still not sure? Call and describe the problem. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a 20-minute fix or a job worth quoting.

Ask a plumber: 281-612-1015
01How do I know if I need a repipe or just a repair?
One leak on otherwise sound pipe is a repair. Repeated leaks, rusty water, low pressure or visible corrosion across the house mean the pipe itself is failing, and repairs will keep coming. We inspect the whole system and price both options honestly.
02PEX or copper, which should I choose?
Both are durable, long-term materials and we install both. PEX is flexible, does not corrode and needs fewer walls opened, so it suits most whole-home repipes. Copper is rigid and preferred in some exposed or code-specific situations. We recommend after inspecting your layout.
03Will I have water during the repipe?
We work systematically, room by room, and keep water on wherever possible. You will know in advance when a shutoff is needed and for how long.
04What about the walls?
Some access openings are unavoidable, but PEX in particular needs far fewer than you might expect. We keep the mess contained, clean the workspace and restore affected areas as part of the job.
05Do you repipe commercial buildings?
Yes. Businesses benefit from improved plumbing performance and reduced downtime, and we plan the work around your operating hours.
06How long does a whole-house repipe take?
Most single-family homes take a few days from first cut to final inspection, depending on size, access and whether it is PEX or copper. You get a schedule with the quote, and water is usually back on each evening.
07How much does a repipe cost in Houston?
It depends on the fixture count, the material, stories and access, which is why we quote after a walk-through rather than over the phone. The estimate is free and the price is agreed before any work starts.
08Do you repipe homes on a slab foundation?
Yes. Most Houston homes are on a slab. Supply lines are usually rerouted through the attic and walls instead of under the concrete, which avoids breaking the slab and makes future access easier.
09Is a permit required to repipe a house in Houston?
Yes. Repiping is permitted work in Houston and a licensed plumber pulls the permit and arranges the inspection. It is part of our job, not an extra you have to organize.

Leaking, aging pipes only get worse.

Our experts are ready to restore your plumbing with reliable repiping, priced upfront.
