New copper, soldered joints, water that runs clear again.

Copper has carried water in Houston homes for seventy years for a reason: it is rigid, it does not sag, it handles heat, and a properly sweated joint lasts for decades. Royal Flush Affordable Plumbing replaces failing galvanized or pinholed lines with type L copper, routed cleanly and tested before the walls close.

Signs you need this

When copper is the right choice.

PEX and copper both work. These are the cases where copper earns its cost.

Exposed runs

Garages, utility rooms and attics where pipe is visible or near heat. Copper is rigid and looks finished.

Near the water heater

The first several feet from a heater see the most heat. Copper handles it without concern.

Rodent-prone attics and crawl spaces

Copper cannot be chewed. PEX can.

Sunlight

Copper is unaffected by UV. PEX left in sunlight degrades.

Resale and appraisal

Buyers and inspectors in Houston still read copper as the premium repipe.

Matching existing copper

A partial repipe tying into sound copper is simplest in copper.

What we actually do

Type L copper, sweated by hand.

We use type L copper, the thicker-walled grade, throughout. Joints are cleaned, fluxed and soldered with lead-free solder, then the whole system is pressure tested before a single wall is closed. Runs are secured so the pipe cannot knock, and hot lines are insulated where they pass through unconditioned space.

Access is planned to open as little drywall as possible, and we tell you exactly where the openings will be before work starts. Patching is part of the quote, not a surprise after.

  • Type L throughoutThicker wall than type M, the grade we would put in our own homes.
  • Pressure tested before closingEvery joint proven under pressure while it is still visible.
  • Openings planned and patchedYou know where the drywall opens before we start, and it is closed when we finish.
How we fix it

A copper repipe, start to finish.

Most homes are back on water the same day the old lines are cut.

Not sure if you need a full repipe?

If the leaks are in one section and the rest is sound, we repair that section. A repipe is quoted only when patching has stopped making sense.

What affects the price

What moves the price on a copper repipe.

Quoted from a site walk, never from a phone call. The variables:

Fixture count and footage

More bathrooms and a longer house mean more pipe and more joints.

Access

Attic and crawl space runs are faster than lines buried in finished walls or under a slab.

Copper vs PEX

Copper material costs more and takes longer to join. We quote both when both make sense.

Patching and paint

Included in the quote at the level you choose.

The estimate is free

The site walk and quote cost nothing.

Copper Repiping FAQs

Copper repipe questions we hear every week.

Still not sure? Call and describe the problem. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a 20-minute fix or a job worth quoting.

Ask a plumber: 281-612-1015
01Copper or PEX: which should I choose?
Both are good repipes. Copper is rigid, heat-proof, rodent-proof and reads as premium; PEX is faster, cheaper, has fewer joints and shrugs off hard water. For exposed runs and near the heater we lean copper; inside walls we often suggest PEX. We quote both and explain the difference for your house.
02How long will the water be off?
Usually only part of the final day. New lines are run alongside the old, and the house is switched over once they are tested.
03Will you tear up my walls?
Some openings are unavoidable, but they are planned to be as few and as small as possible, placed where patching is easy, and patched as part of the job. You see the plan before work starts.
04Does Houston hard water affect copper?
Houston water is moderately hard and can scale copper over many years. It is not a reason to avoid copper. A softener or filter at the main is an option we can add during the repipe.
05Can you repipe just part of the house?
Yes. A failing galvanized section can be replaced in copper and tied into sound existing copper. We tell you honestly whether a partial repipe makes sense or whether you would be back within a year.
