When you need a gas plumber

Six reasons a gas line comes up.

Gas piping is not a place for guesswork. These are the situations that bring Houston homeowners and businesses to a licensed plumber.

A new gas appliance with no line behind it

A gas range, cooktop, dryer, tankless water heater or fireplace needs a supply line sized for what it burns, with its own shutoff valve within reach.

An outdoor kitchen, grill or fire pit

Houston lives outdoors for most of the year. A permanent grill, side burner or fire feature needs a proper buried or surface line, not a hose from the house.

A kitchen or laundry remodel

Moving a range, adding an island cooktop or relocating the dryer means extending or re-running the gas line, and testing it before the walls close.

The smell of gas or a hissing sound

Treat this as an emergency. Leave the building, do not touch switches, and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Once it is safe, we find and repair the cause.

Old, rusty or untested pipe

Corroded fittings, pipe that has shifted with the slab, a line altered by a previous owner, or a connector that has aged out are all reasons to have it checked.

An inspection that flags the gas piping

Home inspectors note missing shutoffs, unsupported pipe and old connectors. We correct what the report found so the sale or the insurance renewal can move on.

The piping is ours. The license is on the invoice.

Royal Flush Affordable Plumbing does the gas piping side of the job: new lines and extensions, repairs and replacements, shutoff valves, flexible connectors, and the connection to the appliance. Every new or repaired line is pressure tested before it is put into service.

Our plumbing work is performed under Texas Responsible Master Plumber License RMPL #42403, issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, and the company is insured. The number is printed on every work order and invoice, and any Texas plumbing license can be checked on the board website.

How a gas job goes

Look, price, install, test.

The same four steps for a single dryer line or a full outdoor kitchen.

Smell gas right now?

Do not call us first. Leave the building and leave the door open. Do not use light switches, lighters or a phone inside. Call 911 or your gas utility from outside. When the utility has made it safe, call us and we will repair the line.

  1. 1
    Step 1

    You describe the job

Which appliance, where it goes, and whether there is a gas line nearby. Photos of the meter, the wall or the yard help us arrive with the right material.

  2. 2
    Step 2

We look at the route and price it upfront

We check the shortest safe path, the pipe size the appliance needs and what the permit involves. You get one price before anything starts.

  3. 3
    Step 3

We install or repair the line

Correct pipe or tubing for the location, supports, a shutoff valve at the appliance and a flexible connector rated for it. Nothing is hidden behind a wall untested.

  4. 4
    Step 4

We pressure test and hand it over

The line is tested, the connections are checked for leaks, and you are shown where the shutoff is. If an inspection is required, we explain the next step.

Gas Line Services FAQs

Gas line questions, answered.

Still not sure? Call and describe the problem. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a 20-minute fix or a job worth quoting.

Ask a plumber: 281-612-1015
01What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the building at once and leave the door open behind you. Do not turn lights or appliances on or off, do not use a lighter, and do not use a phone inside. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility. After the utility has made the building safe, call Royal Flush Affordable Plumbing on 281-612-1015 for the repair.
02Are you licensed to do gas line work?
Royal Flush Affordable Plumbing is licensed and insured and works under Texas Responsible Master Plumber License RMPL #42403, issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Gas piping in and around a building is plumbing work, and a licensed plumber is the right person to do it.
03Do I need a permit for a new gas line?
Usually yes. New or altered gas piping normally needs a permit and an inspection from the city or county where the property is, and the rules differ between Houston and the surrounding cities. When you call, we tell you what applies to your address and what it involves before the work is scheduled.
04Do you work on natural gas and propane?
Our gas piping work is natural gas. Propane tanks, regulators and tank sets fall under separate Texas Railroad Commission rules for LP gas, so tell us what you have when you call and we will say honestly whether we can help with your setup.
05Can you add or move a gas line for a range or dryer?
Yes. We run the line to the new location, fit a shutoff valve and a flexible connector, and pressure test it. For a new gas range, cooktop or dryer we handle the gas line and the connection. If the appliance itself needs repair, that is an appliance technician job.
06How much does a gas line cost?
It depends on the distance from the existing line, the route through the attic, wall, slab or yard, the number of outlets, and what the permit requires. We look at the job, give you one price before work starts, and the $25 coupon applies to any plumbing service.
Ready when you are

A gas line is not a guess and check job.

Call and describe the appliance and where it goes. A plumber answers 24 hours a day, Sunday to Friday, and gives you a price before work starts. If you smell gas right now, call 911 first.
