Sizing

Venting

We set the unit level on a stand or pan, connect it with new supply lines and a new shutoff, run or reconnect gas with a new flex and a drip leg, and size and connect the venting. An expansion tank is added where the system needs one. The relief valve is piped to a safe discharge, the unit is filled, purged, fired and set to temperature, and hot water is confirmed at the farthest tap.

01What size water heater do I need?

For a tank, roughly: one or two people, 30 to 40 gallons; three or four, 40 to 50; five or more, 50 to 80. For tankless it is flow rate, set by how many showers and appliances run at once. We size it with you on the quote.

02Tank or tankless?

Tankless gives endless hot water and lower running cost but costs more to install, especially where gas or venting has to be upgraded. A tank is cheaper upfront and simpler. For most Houston families either works; we quote both.

03Do I need a permit?

Water heater replacement in Houston generally requires a permit. We handle it and it is included in the quote.

04How long does installation take?

A like-for-like tank replacement is usually a few hours. A tankless conversion with new gas and venting takes longer, and we tell you the schedule with the quote.
