The old heater is drained and disconnected and carried out. The new one is set on a pan with a drain line where the location calls for it, connected with new supply lines, shutoff and gas flex, vented correctly, and fitted with an expansion tank if the system needs one. It is filled, purged, fired, set to temperature and checked at the farthest tap.
Many Houston heaters were installed without a pan, an expansion tank or proper venting. A replacement is when those get put right, and we tell you which apply before you approve the price.
Here is how a same-day replacement goes.
Shut the cold inlet valve on top of the heater and the gas valve or breaker. Put towels down and call.
