Water Softener and Water Filter Plumber Houston

Better water at every tap, plumbed in properly.

Water softeners, whole-house filters, drinking water filters, well pumps and pressure tanks. The equipment is only half the job: the bypass, the drain, the pipe and the connections around it decide whether it works for years or leaks in months. Royal Flush Affordable Plumbing does the plumbing side right.

Signs your water needs attention

The water tells you what it needs.

Most households notice one of these first. Each points to a different piece of equipment, which is why a quick conversation beats guessing.

White crust on faucets, spots on glassware

Mineral scale from hard water. It builds up inside fixtures, water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines as well as on the surface.

Gritty, cloudy or sandy water

Sediment in the supply. A sediment filter at the main catches it before it reaches fixtures and appliances.

A taste or smell of chlorine

A carbon filter, whole-house or at the drinking tap, reduces the taste and smell for a cleaner glass.

Pulsing pressure or a pump that never rests

On a well, a pressure tank that has lost its air charge makes the pump cycle on and off constantly and wears it out.

Scale inside the water heater and appliances

A water heater that rumbles, a dishwasher that leaves a film, a washer that needs descaling more often.

An old system that no longer works, or never did

No bypass, a tangled drain line, a filter nobody has changed, or a softener that was never plumbed to code.

The plumbing around the equipment

The equipment is the easy part. The plumbing makes it last.

A softener or filter on its own does nothing until it is connected correctly. That means isolation valves and a bypass so the house keeps water when the system is serviced, pipe sized for the flow so pressure does not drop, a drain with a proper air gap for the water the system discharges, and insulation where the piping is outside.

We can also leave outdoor taps and irrigation on untreated water if you want, which saves salt and keeps the lawn happy. Whatever you choose, you get the price before the work starts, and the work is done under Texas Responsible Master Plumber License RMPL #42403.

  • Bypass and shutoffsThe system can be isolated for service without shutting the house down.
  • Drain done properlyDischarge goes to a suitable drain with an air gap, not into a bucket or a lawn.
  • Outdoor pipe insulatedWhere equipment sits outside, the piping is insulated against Houston freezes.
How a water treatment job goes

Ask, plan, install, test.

From a single under-sink filter to a full outdoor setup, the same four steps.

Already bought the equipment?

That is fine. Tell us what you have or send a photo of the box or the label. We will check what it needs for installation and arrive with the right fittings and valves.

  1. 1
    Step 1

You tell us what the water is doing

Scale, grit, taste, pressure, or a well that cycles. If you are on city water, your utility publishes a water quality report that helps you choose.

  2. 2
    Step 2

We plan where it goes and price it upfront

We choose the location, the pipe route and the drain, and tell you what has to change. You approve one price before we start.

  3. 3
    Step 3

We install and plumb it in

Valves, bypass, correct pipe, drain with an air gap and insulation where needed. The equipment is set level and secured.

  4. 4
    Step 4

We test, flush and show you how to service it

Water is run through, the connections are checked for leaks, pressure is confirmed, and you are shown the bypass and how to service the system.

Water Treatment FAQs

Water treatment questions, answered.

Still not sure? Call and describe the problem. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a 20-minute fix or a job worth quoting.

Ask a plumber: 281-612-1015
01What is the difference between a water softener and a water filter?
A softener removes the hardness minerals that cause scale, using salt to refresh the resin. A filter removes sediment, or chlorine taste and smell, depending on the type. They do different jobs, and many homes use both. Tell us what the water is doing and we will say which one fits.
02Do you install equipment I bought myself?
Yes. Send us a photo of the box or the label before the visit and we will check what it needs. If you have not bought anything yet, ask when you call and we will go over the options for your water.
03Can my outdoor taps and sprinklers stay on untreated water?
Yes. The system can be plumbed so the water to hose bibbs and irrigation bypasses the softener or filter. That saves salt and avoids treating water that is only going on the lawn.
04Where does the softener drain go?
A softener flushes brine to a drain when it regenerates, and the drain connection needs an air gap. We connect it to a suitable drain, such as a standpipe or a utility sink, and keep the line clear of the equipment.
05Are you licensed to do this work?
Royal Flush Affordable Plumbing is licensed and insured and works under Texas Responsible Master Plumber License RMPL #42403, issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Water treatment plumbing is plumbing work.
