We expose the run, remove the old pipe, and lay new schedule 40 PVC on a bed that keeps its grade when the soil moves. Fall is checked along the whole length so there is nowhere for solids to settle. Where the line runs under the slab, we tunnel from outside the foundation and replace it in the tunnel.

Before backfill the new line is tested under load and inspected end to end. Then the trench is compacted in lifts and the lawn, drive or walkway is restored.

01How do I know I need a replacement and not a repair?

From the camera footage. If the faults are spread along the line, if the pipe is cast iron rusted through or clay separating at every joint, replacement is cheaper than chasing repairs. If there is one fault, we quote a repair.

02Can you replace a sewer line without digging up the yard?

Sometimes. Trenchless relining puts a new pipe inside the old one when the old pipe still holds its shape. A collapsed or badly bellied line needs an open replacement. See our trenchless sewer repair page for when it applies.

03How long does a full replacement take?

It depends on length, depth and whether any of it is under the slab. We give you a schedule with the quote and tell you how long the house will be without drains, which is usually only part of a day.

04Do you need a permit?

Work that connects to the city sewer typically requires a permit and inspection. We arrange both and include them in the quote.

05What pipe do you use?

Schedule 40 PVC, laid on proper bedding with the fall checked along the run, and a new accessible cleanout so the line can be serviced without pulling a toilet.
