Signs you need this

Where Houston pipes burst, and how you find out.

The water rarely shows up where the pipe failed. These are the six ways a burst announces itself.

Water through a ceiling

An attic supply line or an upstairs bathroom line. Water runs along the pipe and the joists before it drops, so the wet spot can be yards from the break.

Spray or a stream under a sink

A supply line or a fitting at the shutoff valve. Close the small valve if it turns; if it is seized, close the main.

A pipe that failed after a freeze

Hose bibs, attic lines and exterior-wall pipes split when they thaw, not when they freeze. The second day after a front is when it shows.

Water across the garage floor

The water heater, its supply lines, or the main line where it enters the house. Check the tank first.

Pressure dropped and the meter is spinning

A burst in the yard line between the meter and the house, or under the slab. Soft ground or a wet patch marks it.

Hot water running with nothing on

A hot-side line has failed under the slab or in a wall and the heater is feeding it. A warm patch on the floor confirms it.

What the emergency visit covers

Find the break, replace the section, test under pressure.

The technician confirms the main is off and the lines are drained, then traces the water back to the failure, which in attics and walls is often several feet from where it appeared. The failed section is cut out and replaced: new copper with soldered or press fittings, new PEX with crimp or expansion fittings, a new section and fittings for galvanized, CPVC where that is what the house has. Every truck carries all four, so the repair is done on the first visit.

The system is then brought back up to pressure slowly and every joint, old and new, is checked. Before leaving, the technician tells you what caused the burst and whether the rest of the line is the same age and condition, so you can decide what to do about it in daylight.

  • Traced to the sourceThe wet spot is a clue, not the break. We find the actual failure.
  • Right material, right fittingCopper, PEX, galvanized or CPVC, matched to what the house has.
  • Pressurized and checkedNothing is called fixed until the system holds pressure with every joint dry.
How we fix it

A burst pipe call, minute by minute.

What you do in the first ten minutes decides how much of the house gets wet. What we do after that is below.

Right now, before anything else

Shut the main at the meter or where the line enters the house. Open a low faucet to drain the lines. Cut the breaker to any wet area. Then call 281-612-1015.

Call 281-612-1015
  1. 1
    Right away

You call and tell us what is happening

Where the water is, whether the main is off, whether power is off in the wet area. That gets you seen in the right order and the right truck sent.

  2. 2
    On the way

    A stocked truck is dispatched

We call before we arrive so you know who is coming. Emergency calls are triaged by whether water is still running.

  3. 3
    On arrival

    Source found, price agreed

The break is traced and exposed, and you get the full price for the repair before any work begins. Same price day or night.

  4. 4
    Same visit

    Repaired, pressurized, explained

The section is replaced, the system tested under pressure, and you hear what caused it and what to watch.

What affects the price

What moves the price on a burst pipe repair.

You approve the number before a tool comes out. These are the things that change it.

Where the break is

A line under a sink is simple. A line in an attic, behind tile, or under a slab takes longer to reach and to close up.

What the pipe is made of

Copper and PEX are quick to repair. Old galvanized often fails again at the next joint when it is disturbed, and we tell you that before we start.

How much pipe has failed

One split section is a spot repair. A line with several pinholes or a freeze that split it in more than one place may be better rerouted.

Access and restoration

Opening a wall or ceiling to reach the break is part of the job. Closing it up is usually a restoration contractor, and we say which is which.

The coupon

$25 off any plumbing service, emergency calls included. Mention it when you call and show it at the time of service.

Burst Pipe Repair FAQs

Burst pipe questions from Houston homeowners.

Still not sure? Call and describe the problem. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a 20-minute fix or a job worth quoting.

Ask a plumber: 281-612-1015
01Where is the main water shutoff in a Houston home?
Usually at the meter box near the street, or where the water line enters the house near the front hose bib, in the garage or in a utility closet. Find it before you need it and test that it turns. If it is seized, we replace it so the next emergency is a quarter turn.
02Can I patch a burst pipe myself until morning?
Only with the water off. Tape and clamp patches do not hold house pressure, so the water stays off until the section is replaced. If the main is off and the house is dry, a morning visit is fine; if you cannot stop the water, call now.
03Do you charge more at night or on weekends?
The price is agreed before the work starts and it is the same price day or night, with no hidden charges. We are open 24 hours Sunday to Friday; Saturday we are closed.
04Why did the pipe burst if it did not freeze?
Age and water. Copper develops pinholes from decades of flow, galvanized rusts through at the joints, and supply lines under sinks fail from the inside. A plumber will tell you whether the rest of the line is the same age.
05Will my insurance cover a burst pipe?
Sudden pipe bursts are usually covered under standard homeowner policies. Photograph the water before cleanup and keep our invoice, which describes the failure and the repair.
