What a proper hookup includes

A washing machine connection is a recessed outlet box with hot and cold shutoff valves, two braided supply hoses, and a 2-inch standpipe with a trap that leads to a vented drain line. Older Houston homes often have half of that: valves that no longer close, a 1.5-inch drain that overflows when a modern machine empties, and rubber hoses older than the washer.

We replace what is worn, size the drain for the machine, and secure the hoses so vibration does not loosen them. Then the machine runs a fill and a drain while we watch the box and the floor.

Hookup or new box

Connecting hoses to a sound box is the smallest job. Replacing a washer box means opening the wall and sweating or crimping new valves.

The drain

A standpipe that is too small or too low gets replaced and the line checked for lint buildup.

A new location

Running supply lines and a vented drain to a room that never had laundry is a larger job, priced after we see the route.

A pan and pan drain

Upstairs laundry rooms should have a pan under the machine with its own drain. We can add one.

01Do plumbers install washing machines?
Yes. The valves, hoses, washer box and drain are plumbing, and that is where laundry floods start. We connect the machine, replace worn valves and hoses, and make sure the drain can keep up with it. The machine itself and its electronics are the appliance technician.
02Why does water come out of the wall when the washer drains?
The standpipe is too small or too low for the pump rate of a modern washer, or the drain line is narrowed by lint and soap. We size the standpipe correctly and clear the line.
03Should I replace rubber washer hoses?
Yes, with braided stainless steel hoses, and have the valves checked at the same time. Rubber hoses are the single most common cause of laundry room floods, and a seized valve means you cannot stop one.
04Can you add laundry plumbing where there is none?
Yes. We run hot and cold supply, a vented drain and a washer box to the new location, and add a pan drain for upstairs rooms. The route decides the price, and you get it upfront after we look.
05Do you work on laundry rooms in apartments and businesses?
